Long Branch:  Monmouth Medical Center and the Susan G Komen Fund for the Cure Komen Central and South Jersey partnered with Pier Village for Breast Cancer Awareness Month over the weekend of October, 20-21, 2012. Sandwich Boards & Other Sidewalk Signs on the sidewalks around the shops and restaurants proclaimed the 2-day event in a flurry of pink.

Pier Village shops offered special Pink Promotions and restaurants sold Pink Martinis, Shirley Temple Mocktails and pink cotton candy as part of the celebration of the fight against breast cancer.  It was a busy place and the beautiful spring-like weather.

Many artists displayed their specialities along Centennial Drive and Festival Plaza to the many shoppers seeking just the right objet d' art.   A display booth by Doreen Catena was comprised of eye catching hanging art made from recycled roadside billboards converted to wall décor or tailored as seating strips for director’s chair.  Doreen the artist is at email dordesignonline@comcast.net

Bruce Perlmutter, Woodturner, displayed his handmade wooden masterpieces. A delightful lathe spun vase of maple caught the interest of a shopper and may follow up to visit his full selection of wares in his Red Bank location. He is on Facebook,  facebook.com/Bruceypwoodturner.

Red Bank Regional High School students sold lovely paintings from their own hands, art pieces worthy of display in any venue, a den, office or more formal setting. They were products of the school’s Visual and Performing Arts Academy.
