Long Branch: FCA high school and college athletes and alumni from the area gathered at Branches in Long Branch for their annual Super Bowl breakfast. It was the 17th year that group has turned out for the buffet breakfast and the comraderie of fellow athletes. Once again, the event was sold out.
The featured speaker for the event was Duke Preston, a former NFL center for the Bills, Packers and Cowboys. Preston is now the Director of Student Welfare and Development Program at the University of Notre Dame. Jesse Flaherty, a senior at Red Bank Catholic HS presented the High School Testimony, Quentin Gause, from Rutgers University presented the College Testimony, while John Hack, from Immaculat HS presented the Coaches Testimony.
Lee Rouson, former NY Giant running back, opened the event with a prayer, while Keith Elias, a former NY Giant running back closed the event with a prayer. There was plenty of sports sports memorabilia available in a silent auction and FCA t-shirts for sale.
While there were a few football jerseys spotted in the crowd, not nearly the number this year as last year when the NY Giants won Super Bowl.
Watch for information about the FCA Celebration dinner that will take at the Ocean Place in Long Branch on April 13, 2013.
