Sea Bright: Chris Wood, affectionately known as “Woody”, the owner of Woody’s Ocean Grille has taken on the herculean responsibility of feeding the volunteers who are helping to put Sea Bright back together again. A Food/Tent City has been set up near the Fire House on Ocean Avenue, near the restaurant.
Kristy is cooking out of the kitchen in the Fire House ...on the stove this afternoon was a huge pot of hot chili and coming out of the oven warm garlic bread. Out on a propane grill volunteers were flipping hamburgers. Woody and his volunteers feed nearly 2,000 people every day in the Food/Tent City in Sea Bright.
The Army National Guard is there and helping out, as is the American Red Cross, you may even run into many of your friends and neighbors. The landscape is changed; ruined personal belongings of residents line the street waiting for collection. A green and orange Servepro truck from Indiana was seen in one parking lot. Trucks filled with clothing, food, and cleaning supplies show up and are immediately organized for distribution.
If you can help out, more volunteers will be needed as residents are allowed to move back into town. Carpooling to the site is suggested. Or better yet...just park in Rumson and walk across the bridge to Woody’s. No need to let someone know you can help, just show up.
