OCEAN TOWNSHIP: The reds and green colors of holiday glamor bedecked the stage at the Ocean High School on Dec. 3 as the Red Bank Area Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society fulfilled the annual tradition of their Holiday Concert, this year named "Deck the Halls."
It was another grand afternoon with an excited audience ready to welcome the season with merriness and harmony. The songsters were The Matinee Idles, the Ocean Township High School Chamber Choir and a new music team The Mistletones. Added to the list was the not quite spontaneous "Rudolph and the Romantics" combo. The program was a great 2 hours of fun.
Most of the time was holiday melody, Christmas and Hanukah. The Chamber Choir got sentimental with "Dust in the Wind" and "Blue Skies" to the enjoyment of all.
Two drawing prizes - a Valentine's Day barbershop quartered singing date for a romantic couple at their home, dinner restaurant or other choice spot was prize #1, and a second prize will be tailored to the winner's time and place.
The prizes were won by family members Kay Roseen of Teaneck and Jessica Rodgers of Washington, D.C. They had traveled to see one of the barbershop singers, Charles Hendron perform, a happy turn of events for their father and grandfather.
For info, those readers wishing to enjoy their own romantic Valentine's Day special musical celebration can contact the society at 732-583-1684. It is a special moment couples always enjoy.
