Battle of District 76

Monmouth Beach:  The gym at Monmouth Beach Elementary School was the stage for the 2nd Annual "Battle of District 76".  Fire fighters from Sea Bright (33) took on fire fighters from Monmouth Beach (43) for bragging rights and raising money to help restore their respective fire houses that were damaged during Superstorm Sandy back in October 2012.  It was a friendly game of 5 on 5 basketball, with real referees.

Spectators paid $5 to watch the game, while the Monmouth Beach Ladies Auxiliary manned the concession stand.   Woolley Boglioli Funeral homes sponsored the t shirts, Monmouth Beach wore white while the visitors from Sea Bright wore blue.

During halftime a presentation of shirts and a monetary donation was made to the family of Matthew Burke, an EMT from Bayonne who died tragically on December 12, 2013, he was a friend to many of the players and was truly one of their own.

The game was the second in the series, keep an eye out for the next match up.
