LONG BRANCH: The blades of Long Branch's historic Windmill restaurant have collapsed.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. at the famous hot dog restaurant located at 586 Ocean Blvd. on Monday night, Dec. 28.

Long Branch Director of Public Safety Jason Roebuck said no one was injured as a result of the collapse. One lane of Ocean Boulevard near the restaurant has been shut down as a precaution.

The rest of the building is undamaged and the restaurant will be open during normal hours on Tuesday. The fallen blades are currently being stored in the parking lot and that the structure will be repaired as soon as possible, according to a Facebook post by Windmill.

New windmill blades were recently installed and lights that change colors depending on the time of the year were added. Roebuck said he was not sure what caused the blades to collapse.

This is a breaking news story and it will be updated as soon as more information becomes available.
