LONG BRANCH: On Aug. 6, an absolutely gorgeous night, with the sunset casting splashes of reds and purples in the sky over the Pier Village edifices, oldies music lovers were treated to the vocals and instrumentals of the Bob Burger Band.
The dining tables on the promenade and around the circle of the plaza restaurants were all taken with summer program entertainment adding to patron enjoyment. Lawn chairs rested on the grass and the macadam. People found comfortable poses against the railings at beach side where quite a few beach goers were still enjoying the warm sand and wading ankle deep in the choppy surf.
The music was from the 70s, 80s, with memory pleasing sounds of rock and roll, ballads with a beat and those first-date songs we all remember.
The night's 50-50 went to the $400+ mark, which is becoming a regular thing.
Mostly it was the sounds that made every one excited, dance paced tunes the even the little kids pranced around to.
