LONG BRANCH: Past the mid-summer season of Jersey Shore Blues Foundation programs, the Bob DelRosso Band reminded all on the lawn a West End Park of what blues sound is all about with a repertoire of refrains from the past. That made the guests very happy and the applause loud and clear.
A wonderfully comfortable evening with a cooling light breeze made the night a classic atmosphere for blues-lovers. Dancing feet and modulating torsos were clear evidence the crowd loved it all.
Lyrics were on the tips of tongues as a simulated sing-along was the very visible behavior of the blues types in the audience, a nice size gathering.
Some bocce players had the best of two worlds, the game and the music. Passers-bye paused to watch the family on the bocce court enjoying a night together.
There are four more West End Park Sunday blues events: August 9 with the Michael Packer Band; August 16 will bring the Shade Tree Mechanics; the 23rd is Bob Lanza. Closing night, the 30this the always fun VooDudes.
In the middle of the listings, on August 15, is the West End Cruise Night with great music and classic cars from the 30s and later. Music that day is Rave On at the main stage with local vocalist Reanna Runge and featuring Lou Christie.
Don' forget the Long Branch Jazz and Blues Festival from 1 to 10 P.M. at the Great Lawn.
Thursday, the 6th has the Bob Burger Band at Pier Village, After the Reign on the 13th, and the local great favorite Goldenseal on the 20th.
Brian Kirk and the Jirks closes out the PV season on August 27 with their usual antics and super sounds.
