The body of missing swimmer was found a fisherman in Sandy Hook early Friday morning, Aug. 7, The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office is reporting.
The 25-year-old man went missing on Wednesday morning and Sheriff Office's Maritime Emergency Response Team along with Sheriff's Marine 1, the Middletown Marine Unit and New Jersey State Police Marine Bureau have been assisting the National Park Service in the search since that time.
Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden thanked all agencies who participated in the search and cautioned all swimmers to only go in the water when lifeguards are on duty in an effort to prevent similar tragedies from happening.
