LONG BRANCH: Chabad Of The Shore, also known as Menachem Learning Institute, Inc. planned on presenting its plans for a mixed use building in West End this week, but due to a notification error, the concept will now be unveiled in October.
Some nearby property owners did not know about the Long Branch Planning Board hearing, originally scheduled for Tuesday,Sept. 20, after having their names inadvertently left off a list the city was supposed to use in its notification process. Therefore, the application was adjourned on Tuesday and a special meeting was set up for Wednesday, Oct. 5. so all the property owners can be properly informed before the hearing.
Chabad Of The Shore, a non-profit religious and educational institution currently located at 620 Ocean Ave., is seeking site plan approval for their planned construction at 602-624 Ocean Ave. The site currently includes a vacant movie theater and several closed stores.
"The proposed building is three stories in height and will contain approximately 36,000 square feet of floor area, including approximately 12,155 square feet of first floor retail," according to a public notice. "The remaining floor area will be devoted to the undersigned applicant's use, including approximately 4,000 square feet on the first floor."
The building will include a sanctuary, social hall, library, kitchen, offices, patio, small group assembly area, and related facilities.
Onsite parking will be provided to the rear of the building, and will be accessible via West End Court and Brighton Court.
