LONG BRANCH: A city man has been charged with burglary, the robbery of a local convenience store and is also facing weapon possession charges.
On the afternoon of Jan. 26 the Long Branch Street Crimes Unit arrested James Dotts the 3rd, 39, of 240 Long Branch Ave. Apt. 18 for a $1,000 failure to appear warrant.
Dotts was turned over to the Long Branch Detective Bureau, and armed with information gained from Officers Olski, Eskridge and Pascucci, Dotts was subsequently charged with robbery, burglary, and several counts of possession of a weapon (shotgun) and possession of a weapon with an unlawful purpose for crimes committed in the city in the last two months by Detectives Verdadeiro and Zotti.
Dotts was charged with the burglary, possession of weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose during the burglary of a home on Cooper Avenue on Dec. 21, in which the residents confronted him in the residence.
He was further charged with robbery, possession of weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose for the robbery of the Krauser's on Ocean Avenue on Jan. 14, 2015. $2,700 in proceeds were taken during the act.
Dotts was remanded to the Monmouth County Jail on a bail on $200,000 with no 10 percent option by Judge McGoughran.
His last known employment is as a maintenance worker.
