Crab Cake Cook Off Draws Thousands

Oceanport:  This past weekend, thousands of hungry foodies crammed into Monmouth Park for the annual Crab Cake Cook Off.   Seafood lovers of all ages were treated to crab cakes, shrimp, scallops, soups, chowders and other local and regional favorites.  In addition to seafood, this festival also featured various fair type foods such as high-end waffles, empanadas, BBQ, endless sodas, ice cream, and a large craft beer selection.

There were no complaints with the exception of crab cakes running out while long lines of folks anxiously awaited them. Several families broke into smaller groups so that they could get their food and meet up once everyone was served.

In addition to the great food, the beautiful weekend helped to bring more people out to the park.  Monmouth Park continues to find ways to increase the number of patrons coming to the park.  Events like this are great ways for the park to incorporate both on and off-track wagering with larger family based experiences.

Cole Brothers Circus is this week in Monmouth Park's parking lot.
