Crews Rescue Residents From 3rd Floor of Burning Monmouth Beach Home

MONMOUTH BEACH: An early morning fire on River Avenue severely damaged a home but fortunately local crews were able to rescue a resident from the flames.

The Monmouth Beach Fire Company and Sea Bright Fire Rescue were dispatched to 13 River Ave. just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28 and found heavy fire through the roof of a 3-story wood-frame single family home.

The first-arriving crews immediately rescued a resident on the third floor while a second alarm was called in bringing mutual aid from fire companies in Long Branch, Neptune and Little Silver.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control a few hours later and remained on the scene until 5 a.m to check for hot spots in the building.

According to the Monmouth Beach Police, two officers were evaluated and treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Monmouth Beach Fire Marshal.

The Monmouth Beach Fire Company thanked the following agencies for their assistance in extinguishing the blaze; he Monmouth Beach Police Department, Sea Bright Fire/Rescue, the City of Long Branch, Little Silver Fire Department, Neptune Fire Department, Sea Bright Police Department, Monmouth Beach EMS, Neptune MAB bus, West Long Branch First Aid, Long Branch First Aid and the Ladies Auxiliary of Monmouth Beach.
