SEA BRIGHT: The speed limit in the downtown section of the borough may be changing some time next year.
The Sea Bright Council agreed to send a letter to the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) indicating that it would like the speed limit changed from 30 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour.
The downtown area of the borough is the area from the Rumson-Sea Bright bridge to southern border.
Borough Administrator Joseph Verunni said the NJDOT will be at the next Sea Bright Council workshop meeting in January to present the proposed street striping plan for Route 36/Ocean Avenue.
Verunni said no change to the speed limit can be made until after the new street striping is completed.
