Early Morning Long Branch Fire Guts Home

LONG BRANCH: An early morning fire gutted a city home on Saturday.

The fire was reported at 557 Manahassett Ave., at 3:06 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20. About 20 of the city's career firefighters and 14 city volunteer fire fighters respond to the call and found that the 2.5-story building was fully engulfed in flames, according to Arthur Green on Neptune Hose Company.

Crews were able to safely evacuate everyone from the building and no firefighters were injured in the process.

The blaze was brought under control around 5 a.m. and the scene was cleared shortly before 6 a.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
