Ocean:The Easter Bunny hopped on in to the Oakhurst Fire Department last Saturday. Fire department volunteers had set the meeting room with tables and chairs for delicious breakfast for the youngsters and their folks... and of course, say "Hello" to Mr. E. Bunny.
The youngest tots seemed more super excited, this first time they met Easter Bunny. For the others the annual event was an0thr chance to visit with Bunny and chat briefly as the fire volunteers prepared their eggs, sausage and toast breakfast with juice and milk.
One and a half year old Polaris from Oakhurst smiled and posed for pictures on the Bunny's lap. A new fuzzy friendship was born.
Max, a 2 1/2 year old from Oakhurst seemed to learn Easter Bunny's moves and was hopping all over the firehouse meeting room, checking out all the fire gear. He paused long enough on his grandfather's lap for breakfast to be served.
Oakhurst and Wanamassa Fire Companies hosted the Easter Bunny and took the older kids in attendance on tours of the fire trucks and fire-fighting gear.
Most of the fire department members grew up here and give lots of hours to keeping the town safe. Welcoming the Easter Bunny and the community in is their way to give back and maybe relive a little of their own childhood.
