Long Branch:St. Luke's United Methodist Church on Broadway held its annual free dinner after religious services on Easter morning. Church volunteers served a delicious meal to the many who filled the hall as Pastor Richard Romero offered the for the tradition dinner.
St. Luke members Adrianna, age 10, and Lia, 12, were among those who brought Easter Lilies to add a special peace and grace to the tables for the special feast.
Pastor Romero led the Easter service prior to the noontime meal. His sermon included painting a portrait of Christ which he created as he delivered his words of joy.
The attendees were welcomed by the church's Administration Council chairman Avery Grant, who introduced Pastor Carol Cook, who oversees the Thrift Shop which holds its open day on Saturdays from 11 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.
The shop is also open when the church Soup d' Shore program gives a free meal offering on Tuesdays from 4 to 5:30 P.M. Also the shop is open on Fridays at 3 to 5 P.M. with the Food Pantry. For more info call Pastor Cook at 732-614-0153.
