Eatontown Council Candidate Withdraws From Race

EATONTOWN: A Democratic candidate running for borough council has withdrawn from this year's race.

Pamela Caputo, who was running for one of two open spots on the Eatontown Council along with fellow Democrat Lisa Wilson, said in an email that she has decided not to run this year.

"After prolonged consideration and discussion, I have decided not to run for Eatontown Council and have formally withdrawn my candidacy with the Clerk of Elections," Caputo said.
Caputo said she has been asked to chair the state Government Committee for the LWV-NJ and that she feels that position is "a much better place to continue my strong commitment to public service."
A new Democratic candidate will likely be named soon.
Two Republicans will also be running for seats on the dais; Edmund Fitterer, Jr. and Douglas Ronan.
Two independent candidates are running as well; current Eatontown Councilman Anthony Talerico, Jr. and newcomer Virginia East. Talerico was elected to two terms as a Democrat but has now chosen to run as an independent candidate.
