Middletown: Family Resources Associates, Inc. has been around since 1979, thirty four years and counting. This past week they held their 32nd Annual Golf Outing at Navesink Country Club located in Middletown. FRA works with children and young adults who have special needs. The golf outing the board puts together each year is one of their largest fundraisers.
Looking around the room at NCC, you could see old friends and new friends, Ambasadors for the program, board members and lots of gift baskets to be won. FRA is located at 35 Haddon Avenue in Shrewsbury, they have outgrown their space there and are looking for a new home.
The programs started some 34 years ago for infants and small children have grown up with their clients, now in their 20's and 30's. A Lending Library has been developed, TECHConnection is a free place to try out items and software before it is actually purchased. LEAP, is an inclusive program open to students who can benefit from a learning environment with others who share similar needs.
Real Life Connection Classes open the world to some with special needs to new possibilities. FRA, is all about "Creating PossAbilities for People with disAbilities" although none of the people in the room at NCC have limits. To find out more check out the web site www.frainc.org
