Flooding Causes Closure, Delayed Openings For Some Schools

LITTLE SILVER: One local school districts will be closed and another will have a delayed opening on Tuesday morning, Jan. 24, due the flooding caused by Monday's nor'easter.

After initially deciding to have a delayed opening, the Monmouth Beach School District will now be closed because of "local flooding conditions and inability for staff and students to arrive safely."

Severe flooding on Seven Bridges Road, the Little Silver School District will have a delayed opening. Point Road School will be opening at 10 a.m. and the Markham Place School will be opening at 10:05 a.m. Morning preschool will begin at 10 a.m. and afternoon preschool will begin at 12:55 p.m.

All other local schools, including Shore Regional and the Oceanport School District are operating on normal schedules. However, Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright is currently closed due to severe flooding and borough students have been excused from school.
