Former Sea Bright Post Office Could Become Borough's Newest Restaurant

SEA BRIGHT: The former borough post office could finally have a tenant

1030 Partners, LLC has applied to the Sea Bright Planning/Zoning Board to build a restaurant at the site, located at 1030 Ocean Ave.

The site houses the damaged post office, and was also home to Riverfront Cafe, Island Style Surf Shop and Tracy Lynn Salon and Spa. Hurricane Sandy shuttered the building, which has not opened since. According to borough tax records, the site is owned by R. Mc Keown & P. & T. Geraghty and was recently assessed at more than $775,000.

The proposal includes a restaurant on the first floor with a "seasonal dining area in the front and rear of the restaurant and accessory office and storage for the restaurant on the second floor of the existing building," according to a public notice.

The plan originally included a hotel but that proposal was scaled down to only include the restaurant and office space.

The applicant is seeking preliminary and final site plan approval for the plan as well as a parking variance because 92 parking spaces are required and no parking spaces are provided on the property.

The board is expected to hear the application for the first time at its March 10 meeting at 7:30 p.m.
