Irish Festival Draws Hugh Crowd

Oceanport:  This past weekend approximately 20,000 people attended the 43rd annual Irish Heritage Festival at Monmouth Park.  The event ran from 11:00am to 6:00pm.  Attendees were entertained by a variety of performers on three separate stages setup throughout the courtyard.  In addition to music, dance, and bagpipers, patrons ate traditional Iris food and drank seasonal beers brewed especially for the occasion.

The second stage drew the largest crowds of the day.  There several hundred people parked lawn chairs and blankets to save their spots as they watched live traditional, modern, and progressive Irish music.  Live performances alternated between the three stages throughout the venue with a new act starting about once each hour.

For those looking to update their wardrobe, attendees could get their Irish on by purchasing memorabilia such as: rings and jewelry, hats, shirts, pants, and kilts.
