Jean Kearns Ackerman Obituary

The following is an obituary from Hoffman Funeral Home in Long Branch:

Jean Kearns Ackerman, 68, of Toms River, passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2015. Jean was the youngest of five children born to John Kearns and Agnes Wilson Kearns. Jean grew up in Lakewood, graduated from Lakewood High School and went on to the Robert Fiance Beauty School where she received her license as a Cosmetologist. She eventually owned and operated a pair of hair salons in Bricktown and Neptune.

Jean loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren Johnny and Jeanie who were the apple of her eye. Jean loved music and the New York Yankees, particularly shortstop Derek Jeter. She loved a hot cup of tea and was always very enthusiastic about her family's Irish lineage! Jean had an infectious laugh and a fearless, unfettered spirit.

Jean is survived and greatly missed by her sons, Jhon Ackerman and his wife Beth and grandchildren Johnny & Jeanie; and by Keith Ackerman and his wife Erin; her brother, Jack Kearns and his wife Lorraine; nephews and niece, John, Lori and Michael Kearns; and by her sister, Marilyn Josephs and her children Carol, John and Christine.

She was predeceased by former husband John Ackerman of Appomattox, VA; brothers Gerry and Bob; and niece Kathy Kearns Quinn.

A memorial service is planned for Jean at the Hoffman Funeral Home , 415 Broadway, Long Branch, NJ 07740 on Saturday January 2, 2016. from 12:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 1:30pm. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.hoffmanfuneral.com,
