Lake Tak 5K Nears Season's End

LONG BRANCH: Week 7 at the Shore AC's Lake Takanassee 5K and the Kids 1500M was a different scene than up to now, when woman runner Amber Hart and the men's Doug Lowing were around to take the winner ribbons.

Victory for the woman shifted to a San Franciscan, Amanda Lenaghan, a Georgetown graduate who met her husband Patrick there, He was second to the men's Elliot Gindi who outpaced the field from start to finish. Elliot's 16:55 pace held first place to Patrick's 17:50.

The 1500M Kids race went to 13 year old Nolan Kus, whose 5:17 was just 3 se3cond ahead of Troy Hill for the boys. For the girls, 11 year old Lucy Jackson bested Jenna Geers with a 6:24 to Jenna's 6:30, a close one.

It wasn't all the "regulars" this week, as Ocean Township Coach Mark DeSomma brought his Spartans cross country athletes to North Lake Drive for their first Lake Tak experience. They did well.

Coach is optimistic for the upcoming season at Ocean. The 20+ year veteran coach won the Division 2 years back and sees the newcomers of sophomores and juniors providing a strong complement to his excellent seniors.

His was the final Lake Tak 5K and 1500M for 2015 season. Next week, Monday the 17th, is he traditional closer, the 2 Mile Rn for all comers. I goes off at 6:30 and wraps up the year.
