LONG BRANCH: Amber Hart took first place in the 5K Run and Tom Quatroche took the men's 5K Racewalk in Monday's Lake Takanassee weekly contests. Both took first in their 2 weekly 2015 competitions in this 52nd year of the event.
Hart followed her last week 5K win with a 20:36 run, leading all the way. The 29 year old NJ State Trooper (graduate of 2007 police academy) runs strong, stays even paced and focused.
For Quatroche it was also a start-to-finish performance.
A 20-year Shore AC member, Tom has branched out into the personal trainer profession plus a weight loss program coach (www.racewalker.tsfl.com ), but call him to learn more at 732.610.9438. (He also loves acting, mostly character roles, and hopes to continue to grow that career.)
Andrew Rumph, of Rumson held the lead all the way in the Men's 5K He had turned in a nice Second last week.
In a "How cool is that" 5K Racewalk, three kids from the same family gave their all to complete the event.
Twelve year old Paul Koizumi gave a fine performance, coming in third; his 9 year old sister Elizabeth (Ellie) followed only four minutes behind in the 5K (3mile) event. Brother Justin, a shotput competitor in the Westfield Flyers Track and Field club all have joined, was the final walker, with a strong finish as he settled in to a regular pace.
Their coach Wayne Baker was very proud of them as was their Mom, who cheered them on lap after lap.
Awards went to each Kids Race contestant and to winners and age group leaders. It is the SAC tradition, and the kids love it.
