Late Night Fire Destroys Apartment, Displaces Residents Above Sea Bright Liquor Store

SEA BRIGHT: A 3-alarm fire gutted has gutted apartments above Seabreeze Wine and Spirits during the late hours of Sunday, Dec. 7.

The fire was reported around 10:30 a.m. and brought fire companies from as far as Middletown to help extinguish the blaze.

The building is located at 1060 Ocean Avenue in the downtown portion of the borough. The liquor store below the apartment appears to have been saved, but may have suffered some smoke and water damage. Gracie and the Dudes, the ice cream shop next door, and the apartments located above it also were damaged.

Police reported no injuries to the tenants who live in the apartment, but according to multiple reports, 10 people who lived there and in the apartments next door have been displaced by the fire.

Sea Bright residents have said on Facebook that the owners have several cats and it is unclear if any were injured by the fire.

The Sea Bright Fire Department stated on its Facebook page that the fire is currently under investigation by the Sea Bright Fire Marshal, Police and the Monmouth County Fire Marshal and Prosecutors Office.
