Long Branch: An estimated 12,000 visitors showed up on the Great Lawn and strolled the promenade- many to attend the tenth annual Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation.
Seven musical acts performed in all. A 50-50 drawing winning ticket picked by LB Councilwoman Joy Bastelli of $772 went to a Point Pleasant man.
The show started at 12:40 with the National Anthem sung by a 10-year old Rebecca Ryann accompanied by 8-year old Matthew Raymond.
Near the close of the program there was a pause to recognize the work over the years by the events coordinator, Barry Stein who received an honorary plaque from the Foundation. Stein retires this year from the city after a most successful career of bringing entertainment to the city and the Jersey Shore.
