Little Silver Rec Appreciates Their Coaches

Little Silver:  On Friday night at the Fire House a special group of people in town were recognized.  It was the third Annual Little Silver Rec Coach Appreciation Dinner.  As Doug Glassmacher, LS Recreation Director put it, “These people are the unsung heroes of this town”.  They are the volunteers who make up the recreation program.  They give their time so that kids in Little Silver, kindergarten through 8th grade, get to play, soccer, basketball, softball, baseball and lacrosse.

There were two special honorees last night, Terry Flynn, who has run the kindergarten soccer clinic for 33 years, and Mike Monaghan who has coordinated the soccer program for the last 10 years.  Coach Flynn was presented with a poster signed by kids and parents thanking him for his dedication to the sport of soccer.  Terry will continue to run the kindergarten clinic and Mike is turning the reins over to AJ McNally to run the soccer program.

Chef Pete Roskowinski and the Red Bank Regional HS Culinary Club provided a delicious spread served by students and alumni from the high school, all who at one time played rec sports in town.  There were door prizes and a chance to catch up with old friends and fellow coaches.  Some former coaches in the room included, Mayor Neff and Councilmen O’Hern and Galante.

It’s not too late to pay for late registration for Spring sports, although some grades are closed out.
