Local Chefs To Compete in LB Chamber Cook-Off

LONG BRANCH: The Greater Long Branch Chamber of Commerce is bringing together some off the area's best restaurants for the Fourth Annual Greater Long Branch Chef's Challenge.

The event will be held on Nov. 3 at Ocean Place Resort & Spa at 6 p.m.

Judging will be done by a 3-member panel and there will also be a people's choice judging for attendees. Awards will be presented in both categories.

Ocean Place Executive Chef Barry Walling's barnegat coast local swordfish topped with saffron aioli crostini and chimi chiri was the winning dish at last year's challenge. The guests also got to pick their favorite dish and selected Second Floor head chef Sam Nativo's lobster macaroni and cheese.

Other participating restaurants included Sirena Ristorante, Rooney's Oceanfront Restaurant and Tuzzio's Italian Cuisine.

The list of this year's restaurants has not yet been released, but local favorites are sure to be there.

There will also be an award given to the best tabletop design. Competitors will include local designers, florists and decorators.

The Kay Guadagno Memorial Award and Scholarship Fund at Monmouth Medical Center will be the major beneficiary of this year's event.
