Towns in the Word On The Shore area are planning to salute those who have served our country on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
In Long Branch, three events are scheduled. The first will occur at Jerry Morgan Park on Liberty Street at 10 a.m. where military members who lost their lives in the Vietnam War will be honored.
The second event will be held at Long Branch City Hall at 11 a.m. where three students from the Long Branch School District will be recognized for submitting the best essays about Veterans Day. Wreaths will also be placed at the foot of the memorial markers at Jerry Morgan Park and at the monument next to City Hall.
An open house will also be held at VFW Post 2140 on Willow Avenue immediately following the ceremonies at 12:30 p.m.
In Eatotnown, Veterans Day services will be held at Wampum Park at 11 a.m.
Oceanport's Veterans Day ceremony will also be held at 11 a.m. at the Port Au Peck Firehouse at 433 Myrtle Ave.
A wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the memorial monuments along Ocean Avenue near the municipal parking lot at 11 a.m.
