Long Branch Double Shooting Sends One To Hospital

LONG BRANCH: A weekend shooting in Long Branch sent one man to a local hospital while another refused treatment.

Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Spokesman Charles Webster said both men suffered minor injuries and that the man who was taken to the hospital was treated and released on July 12.

The shooting occurred around 5 p.m. in the area of Central Avenue and Rockwell Avenue, close to where a report of shots fired caused the Gregory School to locked down in early June.

Long Branch Director of Public Safety Jason Roebuck said both wounded men were "extremely uncooperative" when asked to help with the investigation by police.

No arrests have been made as of 10 a.m. on July 14, Webster said.

This is the second shooting in the last two weeks in the city. A man was wounded by gunfire  near the 100 block of Westwood Avenue on July 4 and was taken to the hospital. No arrests or charges have been made in that incident.
