Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) has announced that the Monmouth Family Health Center in Long Branch has been awarded a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration, an agency of the Department of Health and Human Services.
The center, located at 270 Broadway, received over $1 million through the grant. The funding will be used to increase patient capacity at the facilities and to provide additional comprehensive primary and preventive health services to medically underserved populations.
"I am pleased that these vital institutions were awarded grants to help continue their outstanding work serving our communities," Pallone said in a release. "I am especially encouraged because this investment in preventative care will keep New Jersey residents healthy and out of the hospital."
The funding for the grants comes from the Affordable Care Act's Community Health Center (CHC) Fund, which was extended with bipartisan support in the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) of 2015.
The Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey in Asbury Park and Jewish Renaissance Medical Center in Perth Amboy also received funding.
