Long Branch High School Runner Takes Lake Takanassee 5K

LONG BRANCH: Long Branch High School senior Danny Mullan ran the Lake Takanassee 5K in 18 minutes, 22 seconds to win the Week 5 competition. Second Place went to Dylan Ascolese with a 19:23 time; third was Matt Coleman at 19:24.

"It's been quite a while since a Long Branch runner has taken the 5K," recalled Shore Athletic Club's Lake Tak founder Elliott Denman. He would like Mullan o consider joining the Shore AC and continue his dedication to running.

Mullan is captain of the Track and Field team at LBHS, and he also wrestles during in the winter.

Amber Hart returned to the area this week to again win the women's 5K, which she dominated in the first three weeks of this Lake Tak season. She ran a 20:47 time, with second place going to Victoria Marley, 21:35. Third was Dawn Ciccone who runs a strong race and timed in at 24:01.

The 5K Racewalk was won with a 30:29 by Tom Quattrocchi, who has taken the victory each week thus far. Second went to Fred Linkhart, 33:12; third was 74 year old Pat Bruno, 38:03.

For the women, Panse Geer, 65, had a smooth 35:24, with Terri Bordiuk, 57, following at 43:08.

In the boy's Kids 1500M, 10-year old Nicholas Sullivan registered a remarkable 4 minutes, 59 seconds to break the 5-minute mark.

Close behind Nicholas were Nolan Kus at 5:05 and Connor Creihton, 5:25, Amos Marly, 5:44, Matt Frabrizio, 5:50 and William Franznick, 5:58, all under 6-minutes.

For the girls, Lucy Jackson won again this week with a super time of 6:20. Jenna Gers was second, at an even 7:00 time.

The races go off every Monday at 6:00 (registration). The 1500M Kids Race start at 6:30. The 5K follows that race, about 7:20. The Racewalk start is 2 minutes after the 5K Race.

In three weeks the final event, the 2-Mile Run / Walk closes the season.
