Long Branch-Owned School Set For Auction July 28

LONG BRANCH: A building owned by the Long Branch School District will be put on the auction block on July 28.

Max Spann Real Estate & Auction Co. has scheduled the auction of the Star of the Sea Lyceum School on the corner of Chelsea Avenue and Third Avenue for 1 p.m. at the Long Branch Board of Education, 540 Broadway.

Long Branch School District Superintendent Michael Salvatore said the decision to make the property available via auction was made in May and that the minimum bid for the property has been set at $825,000.

The 27,000-square-foot building, which last served as the city's high school annex sits on .91 acres at 179 Chelsea Ave.

"The former school is perfect for mulit-family redevelopment," said Max Spann Executive Vice President of Chief Operations Bob Dann.
