LONG BRANCH: The city police department is investigating a scam involving a resident who allegedly booked fake travel arrangements.
According to a post on the Long Branch Police Department Facebook page, Joao Pessoa-Junior, also known as Juninho or Junior, was allegedly commissioned to book travel arrangements from New Jersey to Brazil for residents in the local Brazilian community over the last couple of months.
"The investigation has revealed that Pessoa-Junior arranged flight itineraries and provided victims with ticket receipts for flights that did not exist," the post states.
Long Branch Director of Public Safety Jason Roebuck said Pessoa-Junior has not been arrested but that police are searching for him.
The Long Branch Police Department is also requesting the public's help in identifying victims of the travel scam.
