Long Branch Police Officers Promoted, New Assistant Fire Chief Named

Lieutenant Jorge Silverio
Sergeant Brian Garrett
Sergeant Rober Bell
Second Assistant Fire Chief Michael Marra
Captain Frank Rizzuto

LONG BRANCH: The city police department saw the promotion of four of its officers and the city fire department gained an assistant chief on Thursday, April 2.

Frank Rizzuoto was promoted from platoon commander to captain, Jorge Silverio was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant, Brian Garrett was promoted from detective to sergeant and Robert Bell, Jr. was promoted from patrolman to sergeant.

Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider said he was proud to see the young officers move up in the department.

"These are guys that grew up in the department and grew up in the city," Schneider said.

Michael Marra was also appointed as Second Assistant Chief of the Long Branch Fire Department.

Usually all new fire officers are appointed and sworn in on Jan. 1, but the department didn't have any qualified people to run for the position last year, according to Long Branch Director of Public Safety Jason Roebuck.

Marra has been with the department since 1997 and follows in the footsteps of his father, who is a past chief of the Long Branch Fire Department.
