WEST LONG BRANCH: In the photo are pictured Long Branch Middle School student volunteers and members of the Greater Long Branch Rotary Club who joined together to collect food on behalf of those in need this Thanksgiving season. The group gathered at the entrance of the West Long Branch Shop Rite, an annual supporter to the good works undertaken to aid less fortunate neighbors in the communities of Long Branch, West Long Branch. Eatontown and Oceanport.
Many shoppers regularly reach out to donate food, treats and nonperishables which are later distributed to help out during this time of year, a chance to give back in thanks and good will for all.
The Shop Rite clears the space for the volunteer workers and finds its own generosities and caring at the same time. The store offers to shoppers who purchase a certain dollar amount of products free turkeys and hams. Many shoppers often donate those same turkey and ham products along with other food basics, including deserts and treats for the collections.
This annual program complements the activities various other thoughtful residents and businesses give for less fortunate townspeople to brighten their holidays. For the volunteers the reward is in knowing their caring helps others.
