Long Branch Woman Dies In Route 36 Crash

WEST LONG BRANCH: A Long Branch woman died following a crash at the intersection of Route 36 and Monmouth Road early Sunday morning, Nov. 15.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office has reported that Tricia Kurtanick, 43, of Long Branch was hit by a 27-year-old West Long Branch man who allegedly ran a red light. The man was allegedly driving without a license and fled the scene following the accident.

The crash occurred around 4 a.m. and Kurtanick was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center where she was pronounced dead around 9 a.m.

The West Long Branch resident was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide, second-degree leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash, third-degree causing the death of another while unlicensed and multiple motor vehicle violations, according to the prosecutor's office. He was being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Facilty on $500,000 bond with no 10 percent option.
