Long Branch's Church Street School Out To Bid

Long Branch: The Long Branch BOE announced they are accepting bids to purchase the Church Street School. Bids for the old boarded up relic, located at 469 Church Street are due back by 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 31, 2012. Bidders will have to send a $25,000 deposit along with their bid. If LBBOE accepts it, the bidder will have 5 days to make another $150,000 deposit.

The Romanesque/Colonial style School, which has been abandoned and boarded up for a number of years, is just over 16,000 square feet on almost 1.5 acres of property. Built in 1891, the structure was listed with the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. It was home to the North Long Branch School- Primary No. 3, but is now in dire need of much repair to bring it up to date. There had been talk of using it for housing a few years back but that never materialized.

A walk through of the building will be on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 10:00 A.M.
