Man Dies After Jumping From Long Branch Radio Tower; Second Incident in 6 Months

LONG BRANCH: A man has died after jumping from the radio tower in Long Branch; the second incident in the last 6 months.

Long Branch Director of Public Safety Jason Roebuck said the unidentified male jumped from radio tower at the Memorial Parkway and Belmont Avenue on Oct. 20 around 2:45 p.m.

Roebuck said the incident was a suicide and not an accident.

Police have not released any information on the jumper, but Roebuck said he does not believe the man was a Long Branch resident.

The area around the tower, including the block of broadway where it is located, has been closed down by police.

A similar incident occurred on April 21 when a 60-year-old maintenance technician from Elizabeth jumped from the top of the tower.

This is a breaking news story and it will be updated as soon as more information is available.
