Marina At Oceanport Restaurant Progressing

OCEANPORT: The progress at the Marina at Oceanport continues, with the restaurant sharing its potential menu with folks such as Mayor Michael Mahon.

Mahon commented on the progress at the last Oceanport Borough Council meeting, saying the restaurant is busy developing its menu as it also creates its final list of tasks needed to accomplish before opening, he said.

AP Development Partners operates the marina and has renovated the restaurant on site. In its most recent post, October 2, The Marina At Oceanport was still updating the interior: "Many people have been asking for updates on our progress because there has not been a lot of visible progress on the exterior of the building. We have been working inside to prepare the building for our fixtures and equipment. You soon will see the outside activity again as we complete the exterior with siding, lights and our Marina Sign. Thank you for asking and we look forward to updating you again soon."

The marina restaurant features a full kitchen, and the property itself sits on the 71-slip marina. The site also has a boat launch ramp to Oceanport Creek, a 2,600 square-foot boat house and parking.

The restaurant hasn't announced its opening day as of yet.

APDP opened the marina to boat traffic on June 28 and for the summer served drinks on the open-air deck, offering free snacks. A more full-scale restaurant at the site was planned thereafter, enclosing the deck and creating a facade for the building, renovating the restaurant.

The though the facility is covering more of the deck, the developer focused on keeping great views in the plan: "We covered the deck with a permanent roof to provide the deck with plenty of shade and protect the deck from the weather. But don't worry, we left the sides open and added tons of windows in the dining area."

The idea is to create a year-round restaurant on the creek.

On October 23, a message responding to the progress from the Marina's facebook page suggested the opening date was still to be announced. "Our crews are working hard on HVAC inside, and a small addition to the back of the building is well underway. Opening date is still TBA, but you'll start to see major progress on the exterior soon! Thanks for your continued support, from all of us!"
