EATONTOWN: The Monmouth County SPCA is accepting donations to aid pets and shelters in Texas affected by Hurricane Harvey.
A 30-foot trailer is currently parked at the SPCA at 260 Wall St and will remain there until Tuesday, Sept. 5. The SPCA hopes to fill the trailer with supplies including dog and cat food, treats, food and water bowls, collars, leashes, kitty litter and boxes, bleach, gloves, paper towels, animal soaps/cleansers, flea and tick medication, dewormer and any other medical supplies.
The only thing the SPCA is not accepting as a donation is linens as they currently are stocked with that particular item.
The SPCA will also be taking in animals from shelters in Houston and San Antonio to make room for the hundreds of animals that have been lost or displaced by Harvey.
"The dogs and cats we will be taking in had already been in shelters prior to the storm and need to be moved out ASAP," according to a Facebook post from the SPCA.
