Monmouth Park Concert Venue To Open May 2015

OCEANPORT: Monmouth Park has partnered with AEG Live and The Thoroughbred Management, Inc. (TTM) and agreed on an exclusive booking agreement for a new, 7,500 seat, outdoor concert venue that is scheduled to open in May, 2015.

The concert venue will host shows during the summer months in area of the park near the miniature golf course and a proposed restaurant and boardwalk area.

The $10 million venue will have an amphitheater-style design, 3,500 covered seats and a lawn area that can accommodate another 4,000 people.

“We’re extremely happy to announce our agreement with AEG Live and TTM,” said Bob Kulina, president of Darby Development LLC, operators of Monmouth Park Racetrack, in a release. “Our partnership with these titans in the music industry will bring yet another form of exciting entertainment to our facility. We think this style of concert venue on the Jersey Shore is the perfect size and location for an amazing night out during the summer.”

AEG Live has a recent concert tour roster that includes stars such as Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Bon Jovi.

“AEG Live has high standards when it comes to presenting the very best talent and delivering a quality fan experience,” said Mark Shulman, Vice President and General Manager of AEG Live. “We are proud to have partnered with Monmouth Park and Jerry Bakal. Together, we will continue to bring this community the experience they deserve as we’ve done for years at the Starland Ballroom.”

Dennis Drazin adviser to the New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (NJTHA) and Darby Development Sports Betting recently told the Oceanport Council the plan is to turn Monmouth Park into a year-round destination.

“We want Monmouth Park to be able to not just be used during the racing season but make it more like an all-year round place to go,” Drazin has said.
