Nearly 10,000 Runners Participate in New Jersey Half/Full Marathon

OCEANPORT/LONG BRANCH: The streets were filled with thousands of runners on Sunday as the 18th Annual New Jersey Marathon had another banner year.

Nearly 10,000 people from all over the country participated in the full marathon and half marathon.

Runners lined up at Monmouth Park in the early hours of the morning with the half marathon getting underway at 6:45 a.m. and the marathon beginning at 8 a.m.

The marathon participants ran from Oceanport through Long Branch and all the way down to Bradley Beach before doubling back to the finish line on the Long Branch promenade. 

This year's top finisher was Oz Pearlman, 31, of New York who cam win with a time of 2:29:24. Pearlman finished with the fastest time in 2013 as well.

The other top finishers were Steve Slaby, 33, of Virginia Beach, VA (2:34:57) and Steven Monteleone, 24, of Berkeley Heights (2:39:01).

The top three female finishers were Rachel Clattenburg, 30, of Washington, D.C. (2:57:58), Sara Belles, Brookfield, CT (3:10:01) and Heather Wesolovski, 31, Astoria, NY, 3:13:57.
