OCEANPORT: The borough council is now whole again after one of its members chose to resign in March.
John Patti was sworn in to fill the vacancy on the Oceanport Council created when Jerry Bertekap resigned due to "career commitments" that did not allow him to remain as a member of the governing body.
Patti was sworn in on April 16 and was congratulated by his fellow council members and his family. He thanked the council for the opportunity to serve and said he is looking forward to serving the town and "giving something back."
Patti will remain on the dais until the end of this year, but is also running for a 3-year term on the council along with fellow Republican Patricia Cooper. They will be running unopposed unless any Independent candidates file for November's election before June 2.
