LONG BRANCH: The annual New Jersey Marathon & Half Marathon will bring thousands of runners to the shore this month.
Both races will begin on Sunday, April 30 at 7:30 a.m. and will start at Oceanport's Monmouth Park and finish on the Long Branch Ocean Promenade.
Runners will follow the course through the diverse neighborhoods and business districts of Oceanport, Monmouth Beach, Long Branch, Deal, Allenhurst, Loch Arbour, Asbury Park and Ocean Grove before turning back toward Long Branch for the finish. A course map can be seen by clicking here.
"The Jersey Shore is a place to make memories, and we are proud to provide an environment that not only offers athletes a course to strive for their personal bests, but for the whole family to establish a tradition that they can relive each year," Race Director Hilary Biggs said. "Our collective commitment to a fun and successful race, combined with its distinctly New Jersey flair makes the New Jersey marathon a destination race."
The half marathon awards ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by the marathon awards ceremony at 10:45 a.m.
The races will be preceded by the Health and Fitness Expo at Monmouth Park on Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29. The expo includes race packet pick up and will host over 20 diverse exhibitors, charity partners, and official race merchandise. The expo will be held from 1-7 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday.
