SEA BRIGHT:A plan for the vacant Quay Restaurant and Marina is coming before the borough's zoning/planning board next week.
The applicant, 280 Ocean Avenue Sea Bright, LLC will be presenting the plan during the Sept. 8 board meeting at 7:30 p.m.
The plan is to demolish the larger of two existing buildings on the property and to construct a new 2-story structure with ground floor parking underneath, containing a banquet hall and 3 residential apartments above.
The other 2-story building, which currently contains 2 residential apartments, located in the northwest corner of the property will remain.
For many years, the site contained an existing mixed use including a restaurant/banquet hall, a separate residential building, and a marina. However, due to significant damage to the banquet hall building resulting from Hurricane Sandy, the applicant is now proposing to replace the old Quay restaurant/banquet hall building with the new building.
The developer would require several bulk variances as well as a use variance as they are proposing to build a multi-use commercial building in single family residential "R-1" zone of the borough. The applicant will also need a parking variance as they are proposing to stripe 83 parking stalls, 12 short of the borough's requirement for a facility of that size.
