New Sea Bright Library Targets June Opening

Sea Bright's temporary library should be open this summer.

"The library is looking great," Sea Bright Library Committee member Elizabeth DeGiulio said at the May 5 Sea Bright Council meeting. "We should have a library this summer and that's good news."

DeGiulio said the plan is to open the library to the public at some point in June.

Borough Administrator Joseph Verruni said the books should be delivered by the county next week.

The temporary library will be housed in a portion of the sanctuary at the United Methodist Church on the corner of Church Street and Ocean Avenue.

The original plan was to place the library in a temporary building in the municipal parking lot, but the library committee and the borough ultimately decided to lease space at the church. The old library was torn down after it was substantially damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

The ultimate destination for the library will be the new "beachfront community center" that recently received CAFRA approval.
