OCEAN: On Monday, June 23 the Ocean Township High School stadium was the site for the forty-eighth graduation. The new Astroturf on the field was used for graduation for the first time, following its installation thanks to contributions of the townspeople.
The traditional processional and flag salute then saw Class President Kelly Conway welcome the stadium's filled stands of families and friends as the official emcee for the ceremony. Her words were reflective and most positive as she closed with, “We have the rest of our lives to achieve.”
The Ocean Choir sang “You Raise Me Up” with the lyrics a thank you to the teachers, staff, parents and the town.
“You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains,” the choir sang.
Director of School Counseling Kathryn Miller introduced Valedictorian Jeffrey Diament and Salutatorian Morgan Mostow who spoke later in the ceremony with words of thanks and well wishes.
An inspirational address by Student Council President Micquel Bernier preceded the school band’s “Sinatra in Concert” leading up to the intro of the class, the individual awards and scholarships and closing with Principal Kelly Weldon’s calling of the roll, and her thanks to the class for their hard work and great promise.
