Oceanport Fort Monmouth Marina Operator In Negotiations to Become Permanent Owner

OCEANPORT: The current operator of The Marina At Oceanport is now negotiating with the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) to become the permanent owner of the property.

AP Development Partners (APDP), LLC was chosen by the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) to operate the marina this summer while a full-time owner was found through the request for offers to purchase (RFOTP) process was running its course. On Aug. 20, the FMERA Board unanimously agreed to enter into exclusive negotiations with APDP to reach a "purchase agreement."

"FMERA staff has determined during the evaluation process that there is a high likelihood that negotiating with APDP will lead into an acceptable sales contract between the parties," the resolution passed by the FMERA Board states.

APDP opened the marina to boat traffic on June 28 and is currently renovating the restaurant located on site. APDP has said they hope to have the restaurant open by the fall. It will feature a full kitchen and raw bar and will be open year-round to the public.

APDP was the only compliant proposal for the marina property received by FMERA as the only other one it received had a condition that it needed to accepted by Feb. 17, 2014.

The property consists of a 71-slip marina and boat launch ramp on Oceanport Creek, a 2,600 square foot boat house and associated off-street parking.
